The Top Six Reasons To Have Your Air Conditioner Serviced Regularly

When you think of your air conditioner, you probably think of it primarily for its ability to cool off your home on a hot summer day. As it turns out, however, it does a lot of additional work behind the scenes. One of the primary benefits of using an air conditioner is that it helps remove excess humidity from the air inside your home. This can not only help your home feel cooler but can also prevent problems with mold or mildew. If you want to keep your air conditioner working the way it was designed to, you should regularly have it serviced. Here are the top six reasons to stay on top of air conditioner maintenance:

1. Minimize the chance of the unit breaking down. During a routine inspection, a knowledgeable technician may be able to spot problems before they occur. Worn parts or other issues can be addressed early on before they have a chance to become worse. This can help keep the cost of repairs down and can minimize the risk of losing air conditioning servicing at the worst possible time.

2. Keep the fluid levels where they should be. In order for your air conditioner to function properly, it needs to have enough fluid. If the fluid is leaking or if it has simply become too low, it can affect the overall performance of your AC unit.

3. Reduce your power bill. The cost of air conditioning your home can be quite high. However, by improving the efficiency of your AC unit as much as possible, you should be able to reduce your monthly power bill. Maintaining your air conditioner can help it run at peak efficiency.

4. Faster cooling times. When your air conditioner is working correctly, it will cool your home much faster. That means that you don’t have to wait as long to get relief on a hot summer day. Faster cooling also means that your air conditioner won’t have to run as long. This, in turn, can wind up saving power. Being able to cool your home off quickly can be particularly beneficial right before bed. Maintaining a cool temperature in your house can make it much easier to sleep at night without tossing and (3)

5. Enjoy better indoor air quality. When you have your air conditioner serviced, the technician will clean or replace your filters. This can help ensure that any impurities in the air are being filtered out correctly. As a result, you can enjoy better indoor air quality – an important factor if anyone in your home suffers from allergies.

6. Help your air conditioner last longer. Air conditioners eventually wear out over time. However, you can help extend the life of your AC unit by taking good care of it. Replacing any parts that wear out, keeping the filters clean, making sure that it has adequate fluid, and other regular maintenance tasks can help reduce wear on the unit, effectively extending its life.

As you can see, there are quite a few compelling reasons to stay on top of regular air conditioner maintenance. Doing so can help your air conditioner work more efficiently and can wind up saving you money. Ideally, you should hire a company to service your air conditioning unit twice a year to keep it in great shape.

The “correct” fire extinguisher for the Chris Craft manufacturing years.

Source for information below is from the Chris Craft Accessory catalogs/price list from the various years. If shown in the accessory catalog, with picture, it is stated by the extinguisher model as AC. Another form of verification were the Chris Craft New Boat Catalogs. Extinguishers on the new boats could be found in the back ground of certain shots of the larger Chris Craft cabin rooms and galleys. These will be designated next to the extinguisher model with a CCC.
Be aware that Chris Craft often used old stock photos for their catalogs. This has been cross checked against the manufacturing dates of the General fire extinguishers for accuracy. The last patent date mentioned, refers to the earliest date possible that extinguisher could have gone into production
Overlap years: This pertains to the Chris Craft model year change (August) and possible conflict from General or Pyrene supplying the inventory needs for Chris Craft. I have tried to be as exact as possible regarding the “correct” model for the Chris Craft production year. By designating a particular year as an overlap year, it should allow or compensate any change in a new model fire extinguisher introduced which didn’t exactly fit the Chris Craft model (August) physical year change. This should also compensate for any “in stock” fire extinguishers that Chris Craft had in stock and simply put on the next years model. In that Chris Craft would have ordered in bulk to receive a discount, this is more than likely possible.
Until a Chris Craft Engineering Change and/or a Shop Memorandum surface designating a specific hull # with a new style extinguisher mounted on it, I feel it is best to allow some leeway as to letting two models be available for a year in question. Currently, there are just too many variables to be that specific. See the “General” or “Pyrene” pages for further detailed information and photos on the different model changes and year of production.

History of Vintage Fe

This web page is an ongoing research page focusing on American built fire extinguishers. There have been untold hundreds of thousands of fire extinguishers manufactured by various companies. These alone can be broken down into different chemical types, sizes and manufacturers. Each manufacture may have made the same kind of extinguisher with a variety of different labels. This web page will focus on the American made, vintage, brass, one quart size. These were generally used for home use, cars, planes, trains, and boats.
The main reason for starting this web page, and where the research is concentrated on for now are the vintage Chris Craft boats or General fire extinguishers. Every Chris Craft boat starting in the 1920’s came with one and it is listed so as being on the hull card. Yet finding the “correct” model and style seems to be a vague subject. This just lead to other interesting extinguishers and questions.
Input or contributions in the way of material to this web page would be appreciated. By building information to this web page we can assist the people that are into restoration projects and perhaps looking for the proper fire extinguisher for their vehicle. Documented material (actual old pictures) or brochures with dates are the best source for reliable documentation.
